HEALTHY, WEALTHY & WISE 21 APR 2014

The purpose of this post is to make you more healthy, wealthy & wise. Yes, I know, a daunting goal, but also a worthwhile goal. My approach is to discuss repeating patterns of sin that keep spoiling our lives, & present some foundational spiritual concepts that need to be built first if we want to continue building success into our lives. God’s Word says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper & be in health…” Why isn’t this happening???

The Word of God teaches that the sins of the parents are visited to the third & fourth generation. One can visibly see these cycles of sin in history. For my post, I will select only one example (there are many) of a cycle, the Katyn Massacre in 1940. Stalin decided to wipe out approx. 22,000 POW Polish officers in order to reduce the no. of Polish intellectia. I was first exposed to this Soviet atrocity in ‘72 by reading the firsthand account of it in a book “Night Without End” by a Polish officer who survived it & actually escaped: 1st to Switz., then to the U.K. & finally to the USA. Because the U.K., U.S. & U.S.S.R govt.s were all trying to suppress info on the massacre, he knew his life was in deep danger. He survived because he was in one of the last groups to be shot before nightfall, & while the bodies on top of him were dead, was still alive enough to crawl away. Once to the US, he privately changed his name & did not speak about the event until his book was published.

The coverups went clear to the top of the U.S. & U.K. govt.s… i.e. FDR participated in the coverup. Apparently that Pole’s eye-witness account has had to be eliminated…the book has disappeared from libraries & used book stores. Other books w/ the same title have replaced it. But his book survives in my memory, because its story was so vivid & important. Now it’s claimed that the only survivor was Prof. Stanislaw Swianiewicz, who was waiting to board a bus to the forest area when an NKVD colonel arrived & pulled him out of line. Part of the enormous Soviet coverup, which incl. killing anyone anywhere that threatened to expose the truth, was to eliminate the town Katyn from maps. So now let’s introduce another principle from God’s Word: “He that covereth his sin shall not prosper.” The only way out of the re-occurring damage that recycling sin brings is for us to uncover it, confess it, and go through some spiritual steps of healing, for instance forgiveness by the two parties.

SIN REPEATS ITSELF. The Katyn Massacre was exposed to the world in 1943 when the Germans discovered the killing fields & documented the massacre for the world. But then the rest of the world covered up the crime, & killed Poles who tried to expose it. A complete honest open account & confession still seems to elude the world. (Like the book I read in ’72 which no longer exists.) Justice has repeatedly been blocked. So the issue has continued to spiritually linger, half resolved…which in spiritual terms means UNRESOLVED. So on April 10, 2010 another Russian massacre of Polish elite at Katyn happened again. Unresolved sin & its accompanying damages recycled itself to another generation. Putin shockingly invited the Polish Pres. Kaczyński to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. Prior to this, Putin (who admires Stalin) had been economically bullying the Polish leader, attempting to blackmail him, etc. On 1/10 an aircraft carrying Polish President Lech Kaczyński w/ his wife & 87 other Polish leaders crashed in the Smolensk Katyn Forest area, killing all 96 aboard the aircraft. Some were descendants of the orig. victims! Putin took personal charge of the investigation into the crash, which then announced that the new disaster happened because the Polish pilot was inexperienced, couldn’t speak Russian, was in heavy fog with unruly passengers. Our media repeated this pure baloney, & warned Amer. not to believe tin hatted conspiracy theorists. The truth is: the Polish pilot was very experienced, had flown the route repeatedly, spoke fluent Russian, and at the time there was almost no fog in the area. Once again our leaders & press covered up a massacre. The leading Russian critic of Putin’s investigation was assassinated on his birthday. (As you can imagine, over the years there has been little love lost between Poles & Russians.)

MEDICAL SCIENCE HAS MANY INCURABLE DISEASES THAT ALL THEY CAN DO IS MANAGE. The Word says God “heals all thy diseases…” (PS 103:3) We are taught, “Every good gift is from above.” And that God’s instructions will bring healing & life, “The reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” PRV 6:23. On the flip side, the Word teaches us that there are blocks to healing (1 COR 11:29-31), that sin dwells in us, separates us from God, & that disease can be the result of that separation. For instance, the damage to our health from bitterness gets attention at PS 32:3, PRV 15:30, 12:4 & EZEK 32:27 & others. “A merry heart doeth good like medicine.” PRV 17:22 (Indeed medical science has shown that laughter causes the body to strengthen the immune system by increasing T cells & protector killer cells.) And “A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bone.” PRV 14:30. My observation over many decades is that there is indeed a relationship between people who are healthy spiritually and being healthy physically. Last summer I saw that Amish who had carried bitterness had died in the 30 plus yrs. I’d been away, & those who were healthy spiritually were still physically healthy.

The physical, mental and spiritual parts of us are connected. We need to realize that they each influence the others. We can have foundational spiritual problems that wreak havoc on our health. The medical reference Merok Manuel, 16th ed. (pp. 1369-1370) says that Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrom is “…likely to occur in healthy young women who tend to be stressed, tense, depressed, anxious, striving, & driven.” What our churches often fail to teach is that these things: depression, anxiety, stress are actually spiritual issues, and like any fear also carry connections to spirits and occult bondage. The Word has warned us, my people are “destroyed for lack of knowledge.” HOS 4:6 (cf. ISA 5:13-14)

It has 432 pages of excellent information on how we can cure many of the diseases that medical science at best can only manage. If the stats are looked at, medical science doesn’t even know the cause, let alone the cure, for most diseases. From pages 307 to 404 the book provides testimonies of success in all types of diseases…that’s nearly 100 pages of success testimonies from people who dealt with the foundational spiritual issues to heal the surface physical ailments.

Refusing to dedicate areas of our life to God can create root foundational problems: “…if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, …and follow me…for whosoever will save his life shall lose it…what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself…” LK 9:23-25 By refusing to turn our bitterness, our fears, our greed, our dependence upon the World, and many other aspects of our lives over to God, we create foundational problems and we can lose our lives like these verses teach. The beginning of all healing is restoration…if you are interested in a restoration with God, and the healing it can bring, then I recommend Wright’s “A More Excellent Way”.
