WHAT MAKES A POWERFUL BODY?: The Role of Unity, Love & Faith 11 NOVEMBER 2018

Whether we speak of a believer’s body or a body of believers similar principles for gaining a powerful body apply. Allow for me to share in a fresh way a message that I have been heralding since 1990.

LOVE THAT INSPIRES GREAT THINGS. Christ told his disciples, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”(A) How had he loved them? Think of when they met Yahshua. Let me continue with my answer to the question…I knew a man who was very Christlike, who projected so much love, that when he looked at you, you felt he loved you more than you loved yourself. Jesus (Yahshua) projected that kind of love. When he met strangers, he could call them “Come follow me!” and his love was so strong they could not resist, and would drop what they were doing. On the other hand, Christ preached to others: “I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.”(B) An example of God’s love is at ROM 8:26: “The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

FAITH THAT HAS GREAT POWER. Very few Christians have had glimpses of the power of the Body of Christ moving in a strong pure love & faith & unity. I have been blessed to glimpse this power on a few occasions, enough to realize how far short we fall in what could be experienced. Our groups of believers are often anemic. On a number of occasions Christ said things like: “I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain “Move from here to there”, and it will move.”(C) Now some brothers in Christ were discussing this verse; and one said, “These mountains in this verse must be figurative and not real mountains because you’d move the mountain over here but I would move it another place.” But the brother lacks understanding. This type of deep faith requires one to line up with the Spirit totally in faith & love & unity. If 2 or more brothers did go to move a mountain with this deep faith, they’d want to move the mountain to the same place!

UNITY THAT PROTECTS US FROM THE WORLD ORDER. This unity is the fullness of the “unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (EPH 4:3) and the “unity of faith” (EPH 4:13) spoken about. Soon after mentioning such unity, the book of Ephesians encourages us to walk in love (EPH 5:1-7), walk in light (EPH 5:8-14), and walk in wisdom (EPH 5:15-21). In 1990, the answer the Spirit gave me when I asked, “What is the answer to the NOW? was that the Body of Christ should function properly as a body with Spirit-driven unity, faith & love. I called this “Christian community” when I spoke to people, but the words “Christian community” tended to evoke thoughts of some Jim Jones compound rather than a highly powerful love and faith that could move mountains & encourage the brethren to incredible feats. I’ve witnessed the power of love to inspire people to do normally impossible things. We are to “encourage one another and build each other up.” (1 THES 5:11) An example of this is Barnabas, whose name means “son of encouragement, who lived up to his name by encouraging Paul. (D) Maybe you & I will encourage a Paul-like brother or sister. These kind of acts (of faith, love & unity) are Christ-like answers to the World Order.
