Finding answers, as well as mercy. Every now and then certain individuals want answers to the World Order, but they consider faith in God and Christ as part of the problem. I am tempted to ask them how well is their pessimistic atheism or agnosticism working? How is it working for you to have a meaningless life? For me, I choose to have hope and meaning in my life. And that is what it is, a choice. I am reminded of this dying agnostic who had an agnostic friend trying to say something to encourage him. He said, “Hold on to what you believe!” The dying agnostic replied, “There isn’t anything to hold onto.” I believe in Christ because I have repeatedly seen that his words are true, and are from God, and they are the answers we are looking for.

Christ gets slandered. If people would actually see for themselves what Christ did and what he taught, perhaps they might think twice before they blame him for all the religious abuse of power that goes on under the name of Christianity. Christ came to set the religious captives free. He repeatedly tried to expose those who had religious power and abused it (for instance, cf. MT 23). I have also tried to free people from religious abuse of power.

Likewise, YHWH gets slandered. If people would actually know what the past situations were before they ranted about how cruel YHWH was back in the old testament, they might think twice before they slandered YHWH God. For instance, God’s supposedly cruel judgment upon the entire world in Noah’s day, was really a rescue mission to save something of His Creation before it was totally ruined. The Bible is clear that in Noah’s day, genetic tampering (just like today) was widespread. Those were evil days. People rant about God allowing evil, but when He does something about it, they rant how cruel He supposedly is. As I said in a previous post, obviously they think they know better, and think they could do a better job. They are legends in their own minds.

YHWH has always been a God of love. His prophet Moses told of YHWH’s desire to extend mercy and goodness to people (Exodus 34:6-7). King David, a man after God’s own heart, knew that mercy was important to God.
Psalm 69:13 “But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of your salvation.”

Psalm 147:11 “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.”

Psalm 85:6-7 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your mercy, O Lord, And grant us Your salvation.”

We collectively and individually have all sinned. Who has not contributed taxes that helped killed innocent people in foreign lands? Who has not transgressed the Law of God, for sin is the transgression of His laws. For instance, we are not to bear false witness, yet our nation thrives on deception. As one translation renders it: He will ruin those who are ruining the earth.

We are to love the Lord with all our hearts…which means God should be the controlling factor in our lives. In the coming months and years, it will be important for us, as we approach God in prayer to remember, that He takes pleasure “…In those who hope in His mercy.” Don’t forget my friends that our Creator loves mercy. Let us show our fellow man mercy when it is appropriate, as well as obtain mercy from our heavenly Father. Pray for mercy my friends.
