Cleansing & Moving One’s Heart into the center of where God’s wants us…. 10 JUL 2013
Cleansing & Moving One’s Heart into the center of where God’s wants us….”YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU…” (Acts 1:8) There is an expression, “A Mind is a terrible thing to waste.” I say, A Life is a terrible thing to waste! Rather than serving Caesar serve Christ.
At times we fall in love with Christ & His desires for our lives, yet we fail to enter into God’s assignments. At other times, people simply play games, seem to live in Laodicea, and don’t want to commit to anything, but somehow hope to reap great benefits from playing games with God. What are we doing in the Spirit realm? What is our identity? How can we have this power that the Holy Spirit brings?

Before we discuss such things, I want to share with you how beautiful Oregon has been lately. Recently, I have picked cherries, strawberries, blackberries, apples… & enjoyed our coast, our waterfalls, forest trails, & wonderful trees. I am reminded of the Song of Solomon (v. 2:12), “The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” Every morning I hear the doves outside my window cooing. Music is what heaven in made of (cf. 1 THES 4:16-17). The basis of music, the principles of harmony & sound were created by YHWH. Music is God’s gift to us; He also gives His gift for us to be able to sing, to invent and play musical instruments. I feel so blessed to listen to the birds singing their hearts out.
.
We are told to “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing & making melody in your heart to the Lord…” (EPH 5:18b-19) By mentioning music that cheers & glorifies God, I have come full circle back to the topic of moving into where God’s wants us. The right kind of music can move us into the presence of God.

I imagine most of my readers know already most of what I am going to say, so this post is more of a reminder than anything. Cleansing (purifying, making holy) our body, mind, & spirit bring us closer to God. Asking forgiveness to everyone we can think of that we hurt helps with the cleansing process. Fasting helps the body cleanse. We want spiritual dedication & discernment rather than distraction & deception. Christ ask us to do (observe) all things whatever He commanded us. Whether we have the gift of evangelism or not, we each are an example (a witness) to those around us. Several verses teach us the Spirit is given to us to be a witness. (cf. Acts 13:47)
.
We have been placed in the midst of our anti-Christian culture, which itself is in the midst of big change. Do our lives line up with the Word? Do we discern what is the most excellent way and choose it over sloppy seconds—things that are merely good & not excellent? I would hope that you would enter into a sense of purpose in life by finding the significance God has upon your life. Once you get on fire for life, your enthusiasm will fire up others.
May our heavenly Father bless you my friends.
